A Glimpse at Triad at Work

by L. Colbourne

Mike has been traveling this year to offer support for children and families obtaining successful outcomes at home, school and in their communities.  TRIAD has worked with large agencies and small communities to keep young people in their communities.  We have also emphasized the importance of projects similar to the "For Keeps" project in Virginia that emphasizes permanent connections for all young people and focuses on new ways of thinking about developing the necessary skills to successfully transition to adulthood.

In 2009 TRIAD has worked with communities and agencies across the country including all parts of Virginia; Maricopa County, Arizona and Northern Arizona; Utah; Louisiana and Massachusetts.  I had the opportunity to join a young person on a visit to a school in Georgia as she pursues her dreams.  I have also been working with Hampton Virginia to develop new approaches to supporting young adults in getting jobs; going to college; finding affordable housing; and reaching their goals as part of the Youth in FastForward project.

TRIAD continues to emphasize Relationships, Resiliency, Recovery and Respect in supporting children and families.  We want to congratulate Wraparound Milwaukee for winning the prestigious "Innovations in American Government Award."   Please contact us at (757) 619-1300 for additional information.
